The look of surprise and delight on the face of the winner is one of the highlights of the Annual Banquet and this year’s Woman of the Year recipient, Linda Moore, certainly didn’t disappoint us. She was applauded by her neighbors and friends who arrived just in time to see her receive the award.
Linda was commended for her work this year as Treasurer and her tireless service on two committees – Special Projects and Communications. Linda has been a member since 2008. She has served on the board continuously since she joined and will serve again next year.
Since Linda retired from Capital Bank in 2014, she has filled her time doing what she loves best, reading, traveling, and serving people. She is a deacon at her church, First Baptist of Graham, and also volunteers her time cooking, serving, and delivering meals to the hungry through the church’s Starfish Ministry.
The award was presented by 2009 Woman of the Year Vera Thompson. Thompson, along with past Woman of the Year recipients Betty Flick (2004) and Juanita Braxton (2017) counted up the nominations from the membership in order to choose this year’s winner. The award recipient is only known by the three committee members who are sworn to secrecy until the time of the banquet.
